Cookie Policy

This document explains what cookies are, which ones this website uses, and the choices available to you regarding their use.

When you visit mlup.digital, small files called cookies may be placed on your device. Cookies are widely used across the web to make websites function correctly and to provide information to website operators about how their sites are used. This policy describes our approach to cookies in plain terms, consistent with the requirements of Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and general international best practice for user transparency.

What cookies do

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your computer or mobile device when you visit. Your browser sends the cookie back to the website on subsequent visits, allowing the site to recognise your device and remember certain information. Cookies cannot execute programmes or deliver viruses. They are passive data files.

Cookies serve different purposes. Some are essential for a website to operate at all. Others help the operator understand visitor behaviour. Still others are used to deliver advertisements tailored to the viewer's inferred interests. The table below sets out the categories we use and the specific cookies involved.

Cookies used on this website

Cookie Name Category Purpose Duration
mlupd_consent Necessary Stores your cookie consent preferences so you are not asked again on each visit. 365 days
Session cookies Necessary Temporary cookies that maintain basic site functionality during your browsing session. Deleted when you close your browser. Session
Analytics cookies Analytics Used to collect aggregate information about how visitors use the site, including pages visited and time spent. This data helps us understand and improve the website. Only placed with your consent. Up to 2 years
Marketing cookies Marketing May be used to understand the effectiveness of any advertising we run and to deliver relevant content to visitors. Only placed with your consent. Up to 1 year

Necessary cookies do not require your consent because they are essential to the operation of the website. All other categories are placed only after you have given consent through the cookie preference tool that appears when you first visit the site.

Third-party cookies

This website embeds a Google Maps iframe to display our office location. When you interact with the map, Google may place its own cookies on your device. These are third-party cookies governed by Google's own privacy and cookie policies, which are separate from ours. We do not control Google's cookie behaviour. If you prefer not to receive Google's cookies, you may avoid interacting with the embedded map or use a browser extension to block third-party cookies.

We do not currently use any advertising networks or social media tracking pixels on this website.

Managing your preferences

You have several ways to manage cookie use. The most direct method is through our on-site cookie preference tool, which appears as a small card in the lower-left corner of the screen when you first visit. You can accept all cookies, accept necessary cookies only, or customise your choices by category. Your selection is stored in the mlupd_consent cookie for one year. You can revisit your preferences at any time by clearing that cookie, which will cause the preference tool to reappear on your next visit.

You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Most modern browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies. The process varies by browser. You can typically find cookie controls in your browser's privacy or security settings. Note that blocking all cookies may affect how this and other websites function, including the ability to remember your preferences.

For more information about managing cookies generally, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) provides guidance on digital privacy at mcmc.gov.my.

Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010, you have the right to access personal data processed about you and to request its correction. To the extent that cookie-derived data constitutes personal data under the PDPA, you may contact us at [email protected] to exercise these rights. We will respond within a reasonable time consistent with our obligations under the Act.

Updates to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the cookies we use or when legal requirements change. The date at the top of this document reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to check back periodically. Continued use of the website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
